Currently ~ January 2013

Yes, I've already blogged once today...but Farley just posted the new Currently for makes this OK.  ;-)

I LOVE Pearl Jam!  Enough said!

I go back to school January 7th and students return on the 8th.  Woo-hoo!

Our middle son is planning a move from Georgia to North Carolina.  I'm having a Mama moment about it.

My husband is a State Trooper so I'm used to him working on holidays, but that doesn't mean I have to like it, right?

We have gone through some food at this house.  Geesh!

In 2013, I will BE!  Be happy, be healthy, be the best me I can be!

I hope you have a wonderful New Year.

Enjoy :)

Math Game Monday ~ A Final Wrap-Up

While I'm still enjoying my time off and time with my family, I haven't made a new math game.

So I thought I'd share the link to all the math products in my TPT Store...paid and free.

Click the image below to go there now.

If you hurry, you still have some time to save 20% on all my products.  The sale lasts until midnight tonight!

Also, here's an old post that is still one of my favorites.  It's a little math trick with a critical thinking printable that's free.

I'd love for you to click the image of my well-used tape measure to check it out!

Enjoy :)

Looking Back, Looking Ahead, & Year-End Sale

I hope you checked out Barbara's Sunday Visit earlier today for an awesome free printable ready for use when you return to school.

Also, if you haven't read about my new linky party, What's Ahead for You in 2013? ~ A Year in {P}review, be sure to click in image below to go there now.  Thanks to all of you who've already linked up and joined in the fun!

You still have another day left to take advantage of my Year-End Sale and get 20% Off all my products in my TPT Store.  Click the image below to visit my store!

Now for the Looking Back for of the title...

I'm joining in with my bloggy pal, Lorraine, from Fabulous 4th Grade Froggies for her linky, First 12 in the Last of 12.

What a fun idea to look back at the first 12 posts I made in 2012!

Here we go!

#1 ~ In With the New!!!  What to Expect in 2012... ~ Re-focusing my blog to fit better with my 'real job"

#2 ~ Teacher Workday ~ Self-explanatory...

#3 ~ My 1st Blog Award! ~ Remember when all these awards where going around the Blogosphere.  See who I passed the award on to...

#4 ~ Photosynthesis/Respiration Freebie ~ I deactivated this product in my store since it used words that are copyrighted by Thinking Maps.  We all learned a lot about copyright this year!

#5 ~ My Go-To Book -- A Linky Party ~ hosted by Stephanie at Teaching in Room 6

#6 ~ Clutter-Free Classroom Project - Week 1 Linky Party ~ Lots of before pictures from my room!

#7 ~ 14 Girls & a Flower Pot ~ LOVED this project and so did my students!

#8 ~ 7 Weekly Pins - Week 1 ~ A weekly feature that didn't make the cut.  I loved doing them, but the posts proved to be too time-consuming without enough benefit.  Still addicted to Pinterest!

#9 ~ FREE Partner Picking Cards ~ This is my all-time top download.  From TPT alone, it has almost 28,000 downloads!!!

#10 ~ Clutter-Free Classroom Project - Week 2 Linky Party ~ My plan of attack.

#11 ~ 7 Weekly Pins - Week 2 ~ It made it for a few weeks before I nixed it.

#12 ~ Classroom Pet Grant ~ I was super excited when I found out about this program.  I was even more excited when I found out I got the grant and could purchase an aquatic turtle for my classroom!!!

Whew!  So much has happened since then, but I enjoyed reminiscing about those posts.  I hope you had fun as well.

Enjoy :)

Barbara's December Visit ~ Tag! {with Printable}

Tag Your Friends by Barbara Gruener

I hope this finds you basking in the glow of the holidays having savored the magic and survived the mayhem of the season. Now Tag - you're it!  Today I'm reflecting on all of the good times we had playing Tag as kids. I loved running around, dodging the tag, and, of course, being it. And I really enjoyed the challenge of Freeze Tag, such a fun variation! When my teens talk about Tag, however, it's in reference to tagging your friends on the social media. If that's what our 21st-century learners know to be Tag, why not try this back-to-class teambuilding activity you can use that'll speak their language!

I'd love to tell you that I came up with this cool and creative variation of Tag, but actually it was some alumni of our elementary school who are now students at Friendswood Junior High. Their choir director, Melissa Smith, asked them to create this scavenger-hunt activity to focus them in on what it really means to be it in the character world. What's really important? Guided by our six pillars of character with integrity thrown in as a bonus, they worked together to answer the question,
"How do we want to treat one another?"
Don't you love that?

Once the matrix was made, students would have to think about their friends through a character lens and tag them not for their popularity, but for their good character choices. When the completed sheet is turned in and the it-votes are tallied, those who are tagged the most in each category will be honored as pillars of their community on the television screens in the hallways throughout the school. So much powerful reflection potential in an activity created by students and completed by students!

To download a copy of their rubric, click {here}.

Happy New Year. Tag, you're it

Another wonderful idea from Barbara!  This would work so well with so many grade levels.  I can totally see my students doing this in our Advisory Program.

Thanks, Barbara!

Enjoy :)

What's Ahead in 2013? ~ A Year-in-Preview Linky Party

2012 is almost over.  I know we often say this, but this year really seemed to fly!

We've all spent some time looking back on this year.  It's never too early to start planning ahead for next year.

I don't want to appear as if I'm rushing time, but I believe having a vision of where you're going is always beneficial.

With that in mind, I'd love for you to join me in a little linky fun!

Here are my 13 things I'll be looking forward to or taking part in during 2013.

To join in, download the image below.  Then open it with PowerPoint or any picture editing software you normally use.  Add in text boxes and save it as your own version.  Not much space so you'll have to be concise.

Write a blog post which links back here and includes the main image above {with the chevrons} as well as your own version of your 13 things.

That's it!  Pretty simple.

Oh yeah...let's do Farley's Rule, too.  After you link up, visit and leave a comment for the 2 people before you as well as the 1 after you.

Please be sure to follow the rules so that I don't have to delete you from the party.

Enjoy :)
