Postcards & Sunday Samplings

Welcome back for my 2nd post today!  I try not to post twice a day too often, so please forgive me. ;-)

Thanks to a fellow blogger who shared an idea that I thought sounded fantastic, fun, and educational all at the same time, I have a new project in the works for the upcoming school year...

I will be hosting the 2012 - 2013 Middle School Postcard Exchange!

There are several Exchanges in place for 1st - 5th grades, but nothing I found was for middle school.  :(

Middle school students are the most social creatures on the entire planet!  I think it's important for them to realize they are part of a big picture and this is a great age where that can really begin to take root.

It's also a great way for them to continue to review states and their locations and well as become more familiar with some of the foreign countries middle school students study.

So, this is how it will work...{I know this looks like a lot, but it really isn't that bad.  I just tried to include everything I could think of.}

{This is available to download or print from Google Docs to have for your records if you join in.}

If you are interested {please be interested}, e-mail me at

Please put Postcard Exchange as the subject and include your name and state.  If your state is still available, I'll add you to the Google Doc Spreadsheet so that you can fill out all your school and mailing information.

I'm only adding people who are participating to this secure document for privacy reasons.

If you know anyone in a different state than you who would like to participate, please spread the word!

I'd love to have everyone in place by the end of July...

I really, really want this to be amazingly awesome!!!

Alright...on to some more Samplings.

Here's another unique idea to share the word about a product you've created or to just get some new ideas and see the reviewed products 'in action.'

This is from the mind of Jessica Stanford. There are been tons of entries to far so she's dividing up grade levels to make it a little easier to manage. I agreed to help organize the Middle School and High School teachers who enter and help get you paired up.

If you're interested, here's what to do.

2. As soon as you receive a swap partner from Jessica, or me for Middle School and High School teachers, please email your swap partner immediately with the product name that you would like to review from their store.

3. After receiving the product from your swap partner print, laminate (if possible), and/or create the product. Take pictures throughout the process if possible. Make the product look its best!!

4. Write and schedule a review of the product blog post for August 1 at 12:00 noon EST and once it posts link it to the linky that will appear on

5. The post should include (but should not be limited to):
- a button to the blog of the creator of the product at the top of the post
- a picture of the product with a link to their tpt store
- a few pictures of the product put together/being 'used' ( I know most of us aren't in school, but even if we fill it out or find a kiddo to do it would be great)
- a raving review to draw new buyers to their store!

I think this will be tons of fun to participate in as well as see the other products cut out and complete as they would be used in the classroom.

Let's see if we can gets lots and lots of middle school and high school bloggers involved!!!

You know we're out-numbered as it't let those lower grades teachers show us up!  ;-)

Last thing for today...

I'm very excited to announce that I'm now a consultant for Thirty-One Products!  I LOVE all the great bags and totes, so I decided to give a go at selling it.

It's very easy to host an on-line party where I give you a link to share with your friends and then you get extra stuff for free when they place qualifying orders!!!!

This month's special is great for Back-To-School!  Book bags and monogramming are on sale, and that purchase would qualify you to get one a several items for $ a matching lunch tote.  It's a great deal!

I just started last week and would love to get some parties scheduled.  So keep me in mind if you are ever interested.

Here's the link to my Consultant page.

Thanks guys!  You're the BEST!!!

Enjoy :)

Making It {and smiling},

  1. Emailed you from Virginia. :)

    1. Got it, Amanda! Thanks...I'm going to send a mass email out Tuesday to those I've already heard from.

I'm so glad you're interested! Thanks for coming by. :)

  2. You have some really great info on your blog. I do not teach middle school but I work at a K-8 school and cannot wait to FWD your blog to the middle school teachers!
    They will love you!

I do, We Do, You Do!

    1. nice of you! That would be so awesome, Kris! Thanks so much. I love blogging almost as much as I love teaching. ;-)

      Thanks for stopping by!

  3. This is an awesome idea. Too bad I teach high school! Good luck with your project! =)

    1. Thanks, Martha! Maybe you could start a high school exchange. I think it's a great project for all ages of students. I could only find elementary groups, so I talked to one of the coordinators and decided to give it a shot!

      I appreciate you coming by!

  4. I totally wish that I taught Social Studies so that I could participate in this (even though the date has passed). What a fabulous idea!
