Thrifty Thursday ~ Target

Thursday has come upon me quickly this week, which means that Spring Break is almost over.  Booo! :(

I did get a little shopping done over Spring Break at one of my favorite places...Target!

That brings me to the topic of this week's Thrifty Thursday...

If you live near a Target, you probably already know about the Dollar Spot/Clearance section that is usually located near an entrance.  However, have you every really looked at the stuff on the shelves there?

You can find some great items for your classroom for $1, or less sometimes!

There are all sorts of goodies for student incentives, prizes, or rewards.  You'll find little notebooks, cute pencils, puzzles, and seasonal items.  I've often found little containers to hold manipulatives or center items.  You can find books, children's books, and coloring books.  Plus tons of other stuff...neat stuff you probably wouldn't want to spend much money on, but a real bargain at $1 or less each!

I like to always have extra stuff on hand that I might not have the slightest idea about how I plan to use it, but I have it when I figure it out.  This has kept me from having to make midnight runs to the store on several occasions!

So, I thought I'd share a picture of my last Dollar Spot trip with you.

  • Cute pencils
  • Puzzles that could be used for 100 10 different things
  • Little baskets to hold manipulatives for centers/stations
  • An atlas for endless SS and even Math ideas
  • 4 classics:  The Scarlet Letter, Black Beauty, Around the World in Eighty Days, and The Secret Garden.  I always keep a stocked classroom library because you just never know who you might trick into loving to read.
I hope you give the Dollar Spot a little more thought the next time you pass by!  If you don't live near a Target, I am so, so sorry for you...bless your heart!

Enjoy :)

  1. I love the dollar spot. Sadly, Target is over an hour away from me. So, dollar spot shopping is a special treat for me!
