A Lot of Odds & Ends

There are quite a few 'odds and ends' that I've been wanting and needing to include in a blog post over the last few days, but the posts already seemed long enough.

So, I'm just going to put all of it in one post together and cross that many more items of my list to share with you!  This is a L...O...N...G post, but there's tons of great stuff {pictures and links}, so please read all the way to the bottom. ;-)

First, I want to say THANK YOU to Pamela from First Class Teacher for giving my blog the Lovely Blog Award!!  It's very rewarding to know someone thinks enough of my blog to pass along an award. :)

Secondly, when I read the TPT Newsletter this morning, I saw that another one of my free products, my Animal Specimen Lab, had been featured in the 10 FREE Downloads section!  Congrats to the other 9 sellers who were featured this week as well.  Click on the image below to download.

Next, I've hooked up with Denise from Sunny Days in Second Grade for an Earth Day Freebie Linky.  Yes, I said 2nd grade, but I think, no matter what grade or content you teach, everyone can find something useful with her Linky Party!  I've seen many great ideas already in the 15 or so products listed.  Denise also has a great post with tons of pictures of Going Green ideas from her own school.  Denise is always super sweet and has awesome ideas...again that you can often incorporate into your classroom even though you're not an elementary school teacher.  Check out the Linky Party if you're looking for an Earth Day idea or to add your own free product!  An image of my freebie is right below.

I also want to make sure yo know about a new blog called Global Teacher Connect which was started by Heidi Raki from Raki's Rad Resources.  Heidi is a former Georgia girl who now lives in Morocco...can you imagine living in Casablanca???  Anyway, I'm an author for this blog as well and there are authors from all over the world...the hunt also continues for bloggers living outside the U.S. who would like to join in.  It's been extremely interesting to see and hear form other teachers who have the same end-goal, but from a completely different cultural perspective!  Please check it out...

Then, my recent Science Saturday post about Dissecting Owl Pellets had a comment left by a reader that was very much appreciated!

The reader {with a private profile} said, "We used the Carolina iPad app. to look at the most common skeletons found in the pellets. When you are done you can click on the Interactive Database and students can enter how many of each bones they found, # scapulas, skulls, femurs etc. Their numbers are then entered into national regions. My students were then able to view averages from across the country. It is a free app, I think it is simply called "Owl Pellets." I hope you enjoy it!"

O.M.G.!  I almost had tears in my eyes that someone took that much time to leave that long of a comment that was so useful...not only to me, but to anyone else who sees it!

So I downloaded the iPad app {which is free, but there is a $2.99 version, too}.  I will say that I would have to spend the $2.99 to use this in my classroom since the really good stuff is only in the premium Bone Identification and Videos, but 3 bucks isn't bad!

If you teach Science, or just love cool apps for you or your children, you may want to check it out.

On we go...

Towards the end of last week, I saw a great post for another Linky Party.  This one was from Teresa of Confessions of a Teaching Junkie.  Her idea is to Focus on the Positive and I LOVE that!  If you link up, too, you have a chance to win a Starbucks gift card!  So here's my Positives for the day!

Lastly...Here's another little kick in the pants reminder to enter my 50,000 Page Views Eggs-travaganza if you haven't already!  The drawing will be Tuesday night at 9 p.m. Eastern.  You could win one of 5 $10 Amazon gift cards, and everyone will receive 2 new products for free before I post them for sale in my store!!!

Whew!!!  I'm going to get a Coke Zero now and I hope you enjoy the rest of your day.

Enjoy :)
